Cambridge’s Møller Centre has completed the refurbishment of its Study Centre – giving delegates a lighter, more spacious environment and even more options in terms of technical support.
Cambridge’s Møller Centre has completed the refurbishment of its Study Centre – giving delegates a lighter, more spacious environment and even more options in terms of technical support.
The enhancements bring the original section of the Study Centre into line with the venue’s new collaborative learning environment, completed in 2007. They are the latest element in the Møller’s drive to improve and extend facilities for training and conference clients.
In the Study Centre, the original suspended fluorescent lights have been replaced with energy efficient flush-fitting lights, giving an extra 50 cm of available height throughout the milling area and meeting rooms. Raising the ceiling height has enabled ceiling mounted data projectors to be installed, creating more floor space for delegates and clear sight lines.
David Hall, Technical Manager at The Møller Centre said “We are very excited about the three projector screens which have been installed in one of the larger suites. This means the room can be used in landscape or portrait style and, with two data projectors, conference organisers can specify dual screen projection, for example, the same presentation in different languages, for two separate presentation feeds, or for live video feed running alongside a presentation."
David continued “We have also installed hearing induction loops in all rooms, where previously we had a portable system that we would use in the rooms on request. We are keen to continue to improve our facilities for delegates with disabilities.”
In addition to these enhancements, expandable multichannel PA systems are now built-in to all the main meeting rooms. With all rooms linked audio-video recorded in one room can be relayed to any other room in the building. The audio video recording equipment has also been upgraded to HD capability.
Stuart Websdale, General Manager, commented “We always allocate a proportion of our budget each year to upgrading all aspects of our facilities. These changes will enhance our offering for clients, with greater flexibility of use for both the rooms and equipment. We are seeing an increase in AV recording of presentations which can then be simultaneously delivered to other parts of the building, the UK or internationally. Video conferencing is also becoming increasingly popular amongst our clients.”
