Sir Clive Woodward supports Young Leaders’ Programme

Rugby World Cup winning coach Sir Clive Woodward, patron of the Møller Centre’s flagship young leaders’ programme, Churchill Leadership Fellows, delivered an outstanding presentation to a sell-out audience of 230 business leaders at Churchill College’s Wolfson Hall. Sir Clive’s presentation, ‘The DNA of a Champion’, formed part of the fundraising and corporate partnering campaign to support future Churchill Leadership Fellows’ young leaders programmes.

Sir Clive shared leadership insights into the four criteria he believes characterise a champion individual or team in both business and sport and how they can be coached to build high performing teams. The criteria were ability, teachabilty, pressure and will.

Gillian Secrett, CEO, Møller Centre for Continuing Education said:

“The event was a complete sell-out. Sir Clive’s practical leadership insights were incredibly powerful, he shared his leadership insights into the characteristics of champions in both business and sport, and how these champions can be coached to build high performing teams. Sir Clive is patron of the Møller Centre’s flagship young leaders’ programme, the Churchill Leadership Fellows, and this event is part of the fundraising and corporate partnering campaign to support this programme. We first developed this young leaders’ programme as part of an international celebration of the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill, designing it to address issues that were close to Churchill’s heart – future generations and leadership. I hope this event will inspire organisations to sponsor this significant programme and consider exploring opportunities with us to develop the young leaders in their own organisations.”

Janay Gibbons explains how she benefited from being part of the inaugural Churchill Leadership Fellows Programme:

“The Churchill Leadership Fellows programme is so much more than a leadership programme. Set in a safe environment, framed perfectly by the faculty, we were able to not only learn about leadership but develop as leaders and people. The programme emphasised the importance of understanding those around you by applying emotional intelligence to be a more effective leader, something I have always struggled with. The preparation that went into the inaugural year was unbelievable and, paired with the impressive line-up of faculty and guest speakers, made for an unforgettable journey. The programme has influenced my life hugely both on a personal and professional level and continues to do so. Being a Churchill Leadership Fellow is a journey that will last a lifetime through the support network we continue to nurture.”
